Original Design of Werner & Pfleiderer
The UMIX® is a high-performance universal mixer designed for industrial large-scale production. With a usable volume of up to 4,300 litres, it is ideal for mixing and kneading medium- to high-viscosity materials across industries such as rubber, plastics, coatings, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food production, and the general chemical industry.
Versatile application: Suitable for a wide range of materials and processes – including use as a silicone mixer, pvc compounding mixer, and adhesive mixing equipment.
Flexible discharge options: Product discharge via tilting trough, discharge screw, or bottom valves.
Precise process control: Troughs and mixing blades are temperable for optimal control of mixing conditions, including viscosity, mixing intensity, and heat transfer.
The UMIX®-L is a compact variant of the UMIX® universal mixer, specially developed for laboratories and pilot-scale operations. With a usable volume of 0.25 to 8 litres, it enables precise mixing and kneading for R&D and small batch production.
Compact design: Space-saving structure for laboratory environments.
High flexibility: Rapid changeovers between different formulations and materials.
Ease of use: Intuitive controls for efficient small-scale batch mixing.
1. Multi-industry use
UMIX universal mixers are suitable for a wide range of industries and their specific mixing processes, such as the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as for PVC and silicone mixtures. The spectrum of mixtures that can be produced ranges from low to high viscosity and from sticky to powdery/dust-dry.
2. Homogeneous mixing processes
Thanks to powerful drives and optimised geometry of the mixing and kneading tools in conjunction with effective temperature control, the required homogeneity and quality of the mixtures can be achieved in a short time.
3. Modular system integration
The universal mixers can be individually integrated into existing production lines, even with existing conveyor technology – from laboratory scale to large-scale production.
4. Material compatibility
As standard, all components that come into contact with the product are made of high-quality, corrosion-resistant steel (1.4404 or comparable).
5. Complete batch documentation
The ADVISE® control system developed by HF supports seamless process monitoring and logging for reliable quality control and traceability.
Together we find a better way.

Your Questions - Our Answer
What materials can the UMIX® process?
The UMIX® universal mixer and the UMIX®-L laboratory mixer process a wide range of materials. They are mixers for the food industry, cosmetics industry, pharmaceutical industry and chemical industry, and are also paint, PVC and silicone mixers – thanks to flexible batch technology, hygienic design and adaptable mixing technology. As industrial mixers that comply with GMP and FDA standards, they are ideal for applications with high requirements for dispersion, emulsification and recipe control in laboratories, pilot plants and large-scale production.
The highly effective Sigma blades of the UMIX® cover a very wide viscosity range – from water-like to highly viscous/powdery. This makes the UMIX® one of the few mixers that can be used for mixing processes with changing viscosities.
How easy is it to clean the UMIX®?
To improve cleanability, the side wall of the mixing chamber can be opened wide enough on some models to provide good access to the mixing tools. This greatly reduces cleaning times. The two smallest laboratory mixers (sizes 0.25 and 0.75) are equipped with interchangeable mixing troughs.
What’s the link between UMIX® and Werner & Pfleiderer mixers?
Until the 1990s, the HF site in Freudenberg belonged to Werner & Pfleiderer, a pioneer and long-standing global market leader in the field of universal mixers. The UMIX® universal mixer is a continuous further development of the W&P universal mixer, which has been tried and tested for more than 140 years.
